Where does Campgaw Honey come from?

Campgaw Bees, LLC is a small family run apiary. All of our Honey is harvested and hand crafted from our own hives. Our Honey is local, all-natural, raw, unprocessed, and harvested from our hives that are kept and cared for in Franklin Lakes, NJ. Campgaw Honey is 100% wildflower honey, direct from our bees to your table. Our Honeybees forage for nectar in an area up to a 3 mile radius of our hives. It really is LOCAL HONEY and you can taste it!

Where does other Honey come from?

As a country, the United States consumes an estimated 450 million pounds of honey annually. Unfortunately with the decline of the number of honeybees, the United States produces only 150 million pounds annually.1 The remaining 300 million pounds is imported from countries and sources that have unknown standards. Sometimes these imported products are adulterated or even contaminated.

A vast majority of these imported honeys are heavily processed which includes heating & pasteurizing. Pasteurizing and overheating removes pollen and may harm many of the beneficial antioxidants and compounds that are contained in raw & unprocessed honey.2

Health Benefits of Raw Honey

  • A Natural Source of Energy: It invigorates the cells & muscles and refreshes nerves.2
  • May Combat Plant Allergies: Local, Raw Honey naturally contains small amounts of pollen. Many health professionals believe that, similar to getting allergy shot at the doctor, taking raw, local Honey may help the body build up its immunity to plant allergies when taken regularly in small doses.
  • Good Source of Antioxidants: Raw Honey contains antioxidants like phytonutrients that are responsible for its antioxidant properties, as well as its antibacterial and anti-fungal power. They’re also thought to be the reason raw honey has shown immune-boosting and anticancer benefits. Heavy processing and pasteurization that is commonly done to all non-raw Honeys destroy these valuable nutrients.2
  • Bone Health: Raw Honey contains up to 80 vitamins and minerals-It contains all B-complex vitamins and A, C, D & K in addition to trace amounts of magnesium, sulfur, phosphorus, iron, calcium, chlorine, potassium, iodine, sodium, copper, and manganese.2
  • Digestive Health: Raw Honey has also been found to help in aiding digestive issues including relief from Acid Reflux. According to an article in the Indian Journal of Medical Research,  honey may work in several ways to help acid reflux including:
    • Honey is both antioxidant and free radical scavenging. Reflux may be caused in part by free radicals that damage cells lining the digestive tract. Honey may prevent damage by removing free radicals.
    • Honey may work to reduce inflammation in the esophagus.
    • Honey’s texture allows it to better coat the mucous membrane of the esophagus. This can contribute to longer-lasting relief.
    • Honey is natural and can be used along with other traditional treatments.3
